The Correlation between Serum and Peritoneal Fluid CA125 Level in Women with Pelvic Endometriosis

چکیده مقاله:
Background Despite a high prevalence of endometriosis, there still exist many challenges in diagnosing the disease. This study aims to evaluate non-invasive and practical diagnostic methods by measuring serum and peritoneal fluid CA 125 levels in patients with endometriosis. A secondary aim is to determine the correlation between these markers with the stage of disease as well as the relationship of the two markers with each other. MaterialsAndMethods This is a cross-sectional study of 60 women who underwent laparoscopy for benign conditions. Based on laparoscopic findings and biopsy results, patients were divided to two groups; one group included patients with pelvic endometriosis (35 patients) and the second enrolled patients free from endometriosis (25 patients). Serum and peritoneal fluid specimens were provided at the time of laparoscopy and CA125 levels were then assessed by electrochemiluminescence immunoassay. Results Mean serum and peritoneal fluid CA125 levels were significantly higher in women with endometriosis as compared to the control group (26.42 ± 24.34 IU/ml versus 12.64 ± 6.87 IU/ml in serum and 2203.54 + 993.19 IU/ml versus 1583.42 ± 912.51 IU/ml in peritoneal fluid, p

متن کاملSerum and Peritoneal Fluid CA 125 Levels Infertile Women with Pelvic Endometriosis in Urummia
SUMMARY Infertility has a special importance in gynecology in causing social, psychological and somatic prohlems. Endometriosis is a benign but progressive disorder in reproductive life and is more common in infertile women. CA 125 is a cell membrane glycoprotein. The endometrium is one the known source of this antigen and seems to be elevated in the pelvic endometriosis. In this study, from...
متن کاملPositive correlation between serum and peritoneal fluid CA-125 levels in women with pelvic endometriosis.
CONTEXT AND OBJECTIVE One of the diagnostic markers of endometriosis is CA-125, and elevated levels of this are caused by high concentrations in the ectopic endometrium. The objective of this study was to correlate CA-125 levels in serum and peritoneal fluid from women with and without pelvic endometriosis. DESIGN AND SETTING This was a prospective, cross-sectional, controlled study of consec...
متن کاملSerum and Peritoneal Fluid Cytokine Profiles in Infertile Women with Endometriosis
Background: Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory disease with the growth of endometrial cells out of uterus and in the peritoneal cavity. T cell subsets participate in the establishment and progress of the disease by producing different cytokines. Objective: To investigate a group of cytokines related to Th1/Th2/Th17/Treg subsets within both peripheral blood...

Pnm-9: Serum and Peritoneal Fluid Level of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor in Endometriosis
Background: Endometriosis is known as one of the most common disease in women of reproductive age. Due to importance role of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in neo-vascularization for the implantation of endometrial cell and different reported results for VEGF level in the serum and peritoneal fluid (PF) in endometriosis patients, this study was designed to determine the serum and PF ...
